Let Your Sunshine In

Life's Journeys

Do You Hear Me?

Daddy you were never around
Did you ever hear me?
When you were around; you never heard my cry!

Mommy you surely did try
Did you ever hear me?
When you were drunk; you never heard my cry!
When you were picking yourself up off the floor,
because of daddy; you never heard my cry!

Hey Bro’s, did you ever hear me?
Out of fear of daddy; you never heard my cry!
Hiding from daddy and trying to help mommy;
you never heard my cry!

Was I so invisible that no one heard my cries?
Do You Hear Me?
As my heart is broken.

Daddy you broke my heart first.
You weren’t the kind, gentle, and loving daddy I needed
But, maybe you didn’t know how….
My love was/is unconditionally like any child’s.

Was I so invisible that no one heard my cries?
Do You Hear Me?
As my heart is broken.

Mommy you broke my heart like only a missing mother could.
You were never around.
You were either drunk, at work, or sleeping.
You never protected me from the abusers.
But, when your afraid for your own life,
how can you protect me?
My love is unconditional like any child’s.

Was I so invisible that no one heard my cries?
Do You Hear Me?
As my heart is broken.

Hey Bro’s! You guys shattered my heart.
As your big sister
I have watched your lives being sucked into the world;
of drugs and alcohol, and the toll it has taken.

Do You Hear Me?
As my heart is broken.
One decided life was too hard,
so he took the easy way out!
How I miss you baby brother.
My love is unconditional like any big sister’s .

Do You Hear Me?
As my heart is broken.
Another got into drugs
and I was broken again watching from the side lines
He is clean today, but replaced drugs for alcohol.
If he can go cold turkey off drugs;
it is my prayer that he becomes completely sober.
My love is unconditional like any big sister’s .

Do You Hear Me?
As my heart is broken.
Another got into alcohol and drugs.
I tried so many times to rescue him.
Nothing has worked:
all though, he no longer uses alcohol;
the drugs have a strong hold!
My love is unconditional like any big sister’s .

Do You Hear Me?
As my heart is broken.
So, I sit on the side lines and pray,
that my two bros get clean.
I pray they can see life sober.
Life is so wonderful to waste it being drunk or stoned.

Do You Hear Me?
I cannot change the past.
If I could change any part of my past;
I would tell you NO!! Do You Hear Me?

Do You Hear Me?
The events in my pass has molded me
to be a survivor and fighter,
how to love unconditionally,
have compassion,
and have passion for life.

Do You Hear Me?
I get to choose to have a broken heart;
over the things in the past or
the things I cannot change.
My choice!!!

Do You Hear Me?
I choose to mend this broken heart.
I choose to forgive my daddy and mommy.
I choose to let go and
allow God to work on my bro’s.
I choose to love all five unconditionally.
I choose to learn from the past
to make tomorrow a better day!

Do You Hear Me?
I choose to love God first.
I choose to forgive myself.
I choose to love myself.
I choose to respect myself.

Do You Hear Me?
It doesn’t mater,
whether you hear me!
Because I choose to hear myself!!
